Nice video of your tank. I must be getting old but some of your serpaes look like Red phantoms but not quite.

Thank you Kevin. That means quite a bit coming from you.

Some of the Serpaes are quite a bit younger than the others, Steeler. The one's you can see through are the younger, smaller ones.

Just did my weekly W/C. My Trates were up to about 6 this time. I don't like that.... Lol.

As soon as my budget allows for it, I'll be taking the list posted earlier of low light plants to the LFS and stocking up.

I'm really trying to stay away from TOO many other plants though. As you mentioned Kevin, the tree has become a bit of a focal point, and I don't want to take away from that. I find that the vibrant green of the moss really draws your eye. Perhaps I'll go for duller plants?

That "translucent" look of the younger ones must be whats making me think of Red phantoms, like you said. The RP also have a taller dorsal fin like these.

I never was a fan of serpaes untill I started following them in you and Kevins tanks. I might reconsider them when I set up another 50 gal.

If you do, steeler, I'd recommend the standard Serpae, over the long-finned. I have a feeling that they've been bred for their long fins at a cost of their immune systems.

Jiminy Cricket! Those do look remarkably similar. I have to say that I think I like the Serpaes better, though. Like Kevin said -- maybe that's why they are more translucent?? They aren't as healthy? That is assuming that they are full grown, and not babies.

Are yours the long finned variety? I was actually talking about my own Serpaes who look mutated. lol

I have come around on Serpaes as well thanks to this tank. That's one of the things Iove about these journals. It's like getting to try it out for yourself first.

That's great crunchy! I think that people probably have issues with them because they just don't keep enough of them, and in too small a space. I've only had one instance of millions g with them, and as soon as I upped their numbers all signs of it disappeared.
