Personally, I think that looks much better, and I think once you fill it in with plants, it'll really start to take form. Right now, the background looks sort of empty, but if you put in some stem plants back there, it'll really fill out nicely and provide an awesome backdrop.

I'm liking it better myself. I don't want to go very far with planting though. I'm thinking some simple anchoring plants and stopping there.
On another note.... I love the yellow tinge the tannins from the wood are giving the water. They bottle that stuff right? I'm thinking of making it permanent.130g: 7 Angelfish, 1 Bolivian, 17 Neon Tetras, 14 Serpae Tetras, 9 Kuhli Loaches, 1 Otocinslus, ? Ghost Shrimp

If you didnt boil/soak the mopani it will take a long time for the tannins to go away. My 125 gallon tank has 4 "large" mopani and a "medium " mopani, some of which had been in there almost 9 months and I still get tannins. And some of it I soaked/boiled for over a week. Now I just give new pieces a good rinse to get off any loose pieces because I kept getting tannins when I soaked and boiled.

Looks good
. Your fish will like the tannins. There is a blackwater extract on the market that does the same thing you mentioned.

Ohh, good things to hear!!!
The more tannis I have without having to buy them is good. Then after they go away I can just pop some of the black water stuff in there. Sweet!!!

lol, there you go. A little over 1.15lb per gallon. That should do nicely. That's a crap load of sand...

It doesn't LOOK like a crap load. Haha! You totally sound like me.
It's only one bag, maybe its because sand weighs so much.130g: 7 Angelfish, 1 Bolivian, 17 Neon Tetras, 14 Serpae Tetras, 9 Kuhli Loaches, 1 Otocinslus, ? Ghost Shrimp
