    I bought a new light and it gives me 216w is that too much light for a 55g planted? should I only turn one side on. and make it 108w or just leave it alone?
    4ft mbuna mangaino and yellows

    16g nano planted shrimp and neon tetras

    Default It def seems like a LOT to me unless its a high tech tank.

    Do you run CO2? What spectrum are the bulbs? I run 108w [1x6500K & 1x10000K bulb - No CO2] over this 55G:

    I have 2 6500 and 2 10000. my plants are some sort of local Val amazon swords a plant called blue stricta and dwarf chain swords. I dose with flourish excel

    Blue stricta = Hygrophila corymbosa 'Siamensis 53B'

    Considering the excel & high lighting I am assuming you are going for a carpet w the chain sword. If so, I would definitely go with all 4 and see how it goes. Tweak as required obviously.

    ok thanks 850R I was just worried cause everywhere it says 1-2 watt per gallon and I have double that thought maybe I might burn the plants

    You may want to raise the light fixture up higher so the light isn't so intense.

    "Nano Fish Tank" 20g long - Celestial Pearl Danios, microrasboras, Corydoras habrosus

    "Mbuna Tank" 75g - Ps. saulosi, I. sprengerae, M. pulpican, M. joanjohnsonae

    "Time Out Tank" 29g - dominant male Cynotilapia sp. "hara"
