Okay....finally time for an update. Things were on hold for a bit due to some microbubble issues I was having with my FX5. Thanks to Hagen, that problem has been taken care of. In the meantime, I picked up some plants and a couple of decorations, but otherwise....everything is pretty much ready to rock. I have to put a new hinge on the canopy, and that's the last thing I have left. I didn't take step-by-step photos adding plants, etc....apparently I stink at journals...

Anyhow, this is how it's looking now:

That's where I'm at now...I like looking at it even without fish in it. Speaking of that...I have ordered the fancy goldfish that I will be stocking my tank with, and they will be shipping on Monday and arriving on Tuesday. I have a calico ranchu, a red/black ranchu, a red cap oranda, and a blue oranda coming. I'm testing out an online retailer I've never dealt with, so I'll let you know how that goes. I've been running the Aquatop on my established 60 gallon setup, so now I'm just maintaining the cycle on the 125 until Tuesday. I'm getting very excited!

Great to see a proper sized goldfish tank. What kind of fish will you get?

Hi! Thanks for the replies! I'm getting 4 goldies. I'm getting 2 Orandas (1 red cap, and one blue oranda), and I will also have 2 Ranchus (1 calico and 1 red/black). I have never had any Ranchus...just Lionheads as that was all I was able to get back then. I think that will give me a good mix of color, depending on if their colors hold or not...they will be very small (1.5-2.5 inches) when I get them. I love getting them as babies and watching them grow. I was initially thinking of having 6 goldfish, but I'm thinking that by the time they're fully grown, 4 will be plenty, even for a tank this size. My new friends will be arriving tomorrow...I'll post some pictures of them once they've been acclimated and added to their new home. I can't wait!

  6. Default They Came!!!!!

Well, everybody made it alive and well. I really hate having them shipped, but I can't find good quality goldies anywhere around here. At least I should only have to do it once.

    Unpackaging:

Everybody seems okay...not too happy, but okay:

It's only a bucket, but they seemed happy to have room to swim a bit more than in the box. I can see viewing them like this how the original idea was for them to be viewed from above:

    Here is the calico Ranchu:

    Red Cap Oranda:

    Blue Oranda:

Red/Black Ranchu...more like peach with a little black, but he/she's very cool looking:

    Exploring the new space....goldfish utopia!

Well, that's that for now. They must be worn out and stressed from their journey and being moved from box to bucket to new tank. I have the lights out now so they can rest up for the night. Tomorrow I'll give them a little food and see how they're doing. I'm very happy with my new friends. Thanks for looking!
