Thanks for the replies guys! I'll have to try all of the advice you guys have given me. The lights aren't too bad, the hoods are the part that scare me the most. Tank should be good and free of any leaks because it was full when I went to pick it up. But it is possible that my roommate and I messed it up while transferring it, haha we are kind of clumsy. Now just to wait for a day off from work! I think in the long run it'd be better to make/buy a new stand anyways. I'd like a wood one, it would be sweet to have a setup with a sump/refugium underneath but maybe I'm getting a little ahead of myself at that point, which I find quite easy to do with this hobby.
