Thread: Problem with Aquaclear 110

Yes they can. I have 3 of the AC110. Had that problem with two of them but both of those filters were in a tank that had plant substrate in it. The dust from the substrate would clog those sponges up in no time at all.
This subject has come up in here before and it's really not all that uncommon. I used to set a big rock on my lid, too, or the lid would get knocked right off by the sponge and bio-max rising up and pushing against it. This had nothing to do with the leveling device........two different things.
PS......Pre-filter sponges keep the sponge in the AC cleaner, too.Last edited by Lady Hobbs; 01-30-2013 at 03:23 PM.

Mandy, taping the lid down is not getting to the problem and the water is going around the sponge, not through it. If you have cleaned it and it still does this, then it's time for a new sponge.Last edited by Lady Hobbs; 01-30-2013 at 03:34 PM.

I've experienced this same problem with my aquaclear 30 since the first day I got it. I've followed all the advice everyone has generously given, plus cleaned that sponge like crazy. The basket still lifts. Always. I have a large rubber band wrapped around the filter holding the lid on. Just waiting for the day that sucker's going to snap and ding me in the face LOL
Seriously thinking of replacing the ac with another aquean - whisper quiet and great filtration plus you don't have to prime it.30 gal FW:dw gourami, cory cats, ABN pleco, Colombian & Serpae tetra, nerites & mystery snails
