Arowana Tank mates

Well my Silver Arowana has grown a few more inches in the past few months and he is around 10 inches now.

He is currently in a 55 Gal Tank (US GALLONS) and I will be moving him to a 155 Gallon Tank (US GALLONS) in a month.

I know he will eventually grow large enough and then even 155 will be small for him but I guess that is a few years away.

So for the time being what would make suitable tank mates.
Can a Silver Arowana be kept with another Silver Aro in packs of 2 or would 4 be preferable, should they be of the same size as my existing Aro?

Do Pearl Aros do well will Silver.

Kindly hit me with every possible combination of fish that would be suitable to be accommodated with my Silver Aro. (No Gars please)

Once any Aro gets too large I will be returning it to the store so no problem there, Also I need to know what would be considered a large Aro in inches for a 155 Gallon Tank.

arowanas generally do not do well with other aros. they are very aggressive with eachother. pearls are the worst and rarely tolerate any tankmates. I have a small section about tankmates in the arowana sticky.

I would suggest something Armored.

I'm fine with him being that tiny tank (tiny for him) because your upgrading, but when he gets to big PLEASE DO NOT bring him back the store!!!!!! He'll suffer there fairly hard. I'm sure you'll be able to find someone with a pond or big enough space for one later on

I've seen large Oscar with them. But I'm talking the Oscar's were over a 12 to 14 inches but they grew up together in the same aquariums.

large cichilids, plecos, catfish, a good combo would be a Aro on top and a tiger limanose, pretty big but not monster cat. not offense but id worry about saving for a 250 or 300 gallon tank, lol make ya boy happy

Just my preference, but I like oscars and larger barbs, tinfoils or full grown spanner barbs.

Aswell as that full grown oscars seem to manage ok with them.

Since aros are top dwellers you could have a nice bottom range of fish. Couple of larger plecos and a shoal of clown loaches, or pictus catfish.

Thanks for the suggestion guys, I might find a few of the fish you have listed in my LFS hopefully.

Anyway would Bala sharks be a good option, my LFS is full of them in the 5-7 inch range, not sure how they would do with an Aro.

Well I have ideas of keeping the Aquarium in my room only and not in the hall.
300 Gallon, no problem there, I just have to sell my bed and sleep on the floor for the rest of my life. I am okay with that, but I am not sure my parents will agree

keep it by itself and just get various schools of amazonian fish...they will last as long as they last and he will feed on them and you can have a constant variety
