I have gone through 8 rcs lately and they were fine until I added excel.This is a 16g planted tank with neon tetra and it was just the shrimp. It is newly established but from used media from my other tanks. The water parameters are 0/0/0 I know the 0 nitrates sounds funny but I have constantly tested my self and all I can put it down to is the plants. maybe I am one of the lucky ones with no trates. I want to know if anyone else has had trouble with dosing excel with shrimp.?

I have not had any issues with excel and my red cherry shrimp tanks. I suppose it is possible but you would have to seriously overdose with the excel. May want to try again with a lower dosage if you suspect it is the excel.

if I'm reading the instruction properly it should be a couple of drops for 16g a day right?

I don't fertilize every day, just do it twice a week to make it easier on yourself. 1 capful is good for 10g.

Not exactly your shrimp species but I have amanos in an excel tank with no issues, however, I haven't
done any intentional overdosing to combat algae either, so no saying what can happen at higher than intended dosages.

With shrimp it is always best to under dose. I have an 8 gal and only dose 0.8 mL once a week. Plants and shrimp are booming.
