3 drawer organizer as DIY filter system
Has anyone had experience with using one of those 3 drawer organizers as a filter system? Like this one http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sterilite-...-of-4/15442451

I personally don't but I have seen it done many times. I considered doing one of those but ended up making a trickle filter out of some 5-gallon buckets. You can see my DIY build here.

I built a smaller version for additional bio-media and a bit of polishing when my Oscar tank was bare bottom. 5 drawers = 20+ish 1.25 bioballs in each of the bottom four drawers and filter batting in the top.
It actually drained back into the tank and I used an EHIEM 2217 full of scrubbies to input into it.
I have six words for you.

You need to get a hold of Crispy. He's done it before and he's been helping me design mine. I have four of that exact unit you linked, but so far they''re just sitting in my basement waiting for me to start using them, so I don't have any actual experience yet.

One thing to look at too is using pot scrubbers for the biomedia and poly stuffing for mechanical polishing.
Just a good way to save a little $$ because buying a ton of biomax isn't the cheapest thing in the world55g: DG, 10 Parva Rainbow, 5 GBR, 3 Oto, 6 Sterbai, 5 Platies, RCS
10g: RCS, 10 Boraras Brigittae; 10g: 2 Calico BN Pleco; 10g: 4 Sterbai

Yep, Used them. Bio-balls are cheap on ebay also and ideal for trickle filters IMO.
