I accidentally found the below article this morning while searching for something else

    http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases...0115143858.htm

It is a interesting article about infectious bacteria that is becoming resistant to antibiotics. It really inforces good practices of only treating with antibiotics by following the manufacture's directions and only treating with antibiotics when required.
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

What's scarier is that the same thing is happening to viruses and pathogens that infect humans. Antiobiotic-resistance strains are mutations that are able to continue to grow while the former version continues to die and there's eventually nothing left but that resistant strain left. Then a new antibiotic is developed to kill those strains and a new mutation occurs, and so on...

A lot of the problems start with the Asian fish farms where the water is kept medicated virtually all the time. This ensures that only the most resistant forms of pathogens and parasites survive, and continue to adapt.

Good article Cliff. And why it's important to treat with the recommended doses of medications rather than half doses unless the manufacturer has stated to. Ick has also had a resistant strain that's hard to kill for some time.

Bingo Aeon! And when the fish arrive here from the farms and are not medicated, they become very susceptible to pathogens and parasites. That's the very definition of weak stock.
