No fish can survive in a small tank in most houses without proper temperature control - temperatures change too much. In the wild, temperatures for most tropical fish change very little and this takes months. If a fish need cool water you need both a heater and cooling unit or a very large tank that holds temp (ponds are good for goldfish.) Letting cool water fish get hit by daily swings of even two degree's is bad and will harm them in the long run.

When you research, it is important to look up many sources and read them all to find common ground. Information about specifics is often different from one source to another. Find credible sources and research thoroughly, don't just read until you find what you want to hear, but find good solid information about the fish you are interested in buying. Use your brain and think, does it make sense that a cold water species would be comfortable long term in tropical temps? How credible could the sources that say this be? After you have gathered all the basic information, read it, and understand it, then ask questions of those who have experience. Several people on this forum are credible sources and there is no reason you can't or shouldn't start, include, or end your research here, but don't forget to do your own research as well.

If it's called tourist season why can't I shoot them?
Brutal honesty will be shown on this screen.
I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
