Vafa - I get the feeling that with 2 tiny tanks, you are itching to put actual fish into one of them - the problem is very often those size tanks are marketed to make people think that certain fish can go into them when it's just not the case.

    good news guys
    nitrite at .5-1
    ammonia 2
and i have read that shrimp have some small bio-loads but i don't want to take the risk.
so now should i top off water that has evaporated.
and if so should i use some of my water from an established tank
    or conditioned water from tap?
and also i am getting this heater on the weekend

Yes, top off the tank and use new dechlorinated water. No sense in putting dirty tank water in there. Water from another tank brings nothing to the show but used water.
When I go fishing I just place a sharp rock in the water and sit there waiting for all the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher
Brutal honesty will be shown on this screen.
I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
Tolerance is a great thing to have, so is the ability to shut up.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

Speed up your cycle? How is this product supposed to work?

Getting a nitrAte reading means you are more than halfway through the cycling process.

on the bottle it says that it is a blend of highly efficent micro-organisms that biologically reduce organic waste in betta "bowls"
some one gave me this a while back.
    i didn't use till a week ago
    i am assuming this is a cycle-booster
    or am i wrong

Organic waste? As far as I know, you have no organic waste in the tank - there isn't anything living in it yet - and as far as I know, organic waste that accumulates in a tank should be removed by the tank owner.

My understanding of cycle boosters is they can protect fish while doing a fish-in cycle but that isn't the case.

i did my test right now
    i am freakin out
my nitrite has gone to 0
    ammonia to 1.5
    and nitrate to 5
    why don't i have nitrite.
on the prime bottle it does say detoxifies nitrite and nitrate.
is this do to a prime overdose.
i estimated that there was 0.5-1 gallon of water so i put in about 1 ml.
the water in the tank went down 1/3.
i had a little left in the bucket so i poured that in the 20.
    very little was left
