how long till my guppies give birth???

Hey guys,

I have a video of my 2 pregnant guppies and I don't know how long till they give birth?

And I still haven't got my tank planted yet. I only have java moss but I have some driftwood I am treating so i can get rid of that ugly bell :)

If you have a male and female guppy, very soon, your tank will be overrun by the guppies. What are your long term plans to deal with this issue? Also, starting with two will result in a terrible inbreeding issue long term (you can't give these back to a ILS for reselling.)

You don't give details on your tank size so no idea on what the effect on your tank parameters a large number of guppies will have. By the way, I can't get your link to work.

My personal experiences taught me that guppies may not overrun the tank if you have male and females which is something many are concerned about. My wife had me get some guppies for one of the tanks that I had running about 2 years ago, the way I had the tank setup there was not many places for the fry to hide so the adults were able to hunt down the majority of the fry. The adults I had would eliminate all but perhaps 2 or 3 fry and the adults did not have batches of fry very often either which helped. The liquid rock and cooler water temperatures (hardness around 300 ppm, pH = 8.4, temperature 68-72, ammo 0, nitrites = 0, nitrates = 20-40) I had them in might have played a factor too.

If you have a fish or two that is proficient at hunting fry and there are not many places for fry to hide you may not have to worry much about a guppy population explosion.

The wife had kept guppies before we meet and she described the tank as having more guppies than water so she has seen both extremes.
