Shouldn't be a problem with a breeding group. Venustus in particular have very large broods as far as african cichlids go (40-80 fry per batch usually, though 120 isn't unheard of).

+1 to the above I have not noticed any of this egg eating behavior in my mbuna tank and have stripped and raised several broods, i have also let some go into the main tank. I believe this is mainly a behavior found in larger groups of the catfish.
Finally reached 6 tanks... oh god, this addiction is getting serious. 75g mbuna tank, 65g gold severum, 55g OB peacock breeding colony, 30g(36x18) growout, 20 long Dwarf Alto's, 10g fry tank.
If I die young bury me in... An 8x2x2 with versa tops and a large sump for adequate filtration;)
