What to use for a sump inside a stand under 11 inches wide.
I'm looking at getting a sump which will fit inside my existing aquarium stand. I just bought a 20 gallon long but when I got it home, I found out it is 12.5 inches wide and my opening in the 55 gallon stand is only 11.5 inches wide. They took the tank back (thankfully), but besides a 5 gallon glass tank, there was nothing else under 11.5 wide to use. I have thought about making something out of acrylic but I'm hoping some one has a source or thought where to purchase a tank 11 wide by 24 or so long tank.
Any thoughts? There was a turtle tank setup with a 10 inch wide tank but they wanted $89.00 for the set-up. Way too much for my liking.Warning; Bulldog Pleco guarding my Sons tank now..

Your best option may be getting a sump made. Maybe check out some of these stores to see if they have anything to offer assuming they are close to you. I had this list handy form one of my business trips

I used to have an 'Amiracle' brand sump that was exactly like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amiracle-Wet...item2c6b44da36, It's size is in listed in the questions below the listing [It will fit].
They are fairly inexpensive and will do the job if you can find one close to you.

Idk if i understand the problem perfectly but if what i understand is correct, the 20l is 1" wider (front to back) than the stand? If thats right then cant u grab a few 2x6s and make a platforn that protrudes the back of the stand 1"? Then secure it to the stand for safety.

I would have done that but the 55 gallon is in it's second week of its cycle with r/o and salt water in it. I'm not going through filling it again. I can only make 5 gallons of r/o water per day.
