Fire Dwarf Gouramis compatibility

I've got a 20 gallon tall and I'm looking at adding a dwarf fire. There is currently 7 blood fin with plans to stock 5 more and thinking about ghost shrimp. I'm wondering if a gouramis would work in this tank? I've got a penguin 150 and a AC 30 for filtration. The tank has been cycled for about a month and been stocked for a week and a half.

Sounds like a color morph of colias lalia. Provided the dwarf is a healthy fish to begin with, he should do fine in a 20 gallon tall. It's important that the tank be at least 24" long and that you provide plenty of cover for the dwarf in the form of plants, wood, rocks, ect. Here's a profile for Colias lalia:

You've got plenty of filtration provided that the Penguin has a biowheel and the AC30 has biomax in it for biofiltration.

What about the shrimp? I've been thinking a couple of black mystery snail might work better with a gouramis any thoughts? I'd rather have the shrimp but snails would be cool as well.

I'd favor mystery or nerite snails over shrimp any day for a community type tank like yours. The shrimp could get eaten.

The shrimp in that tank would DEFINITELY be food. Ive watched 6 bloodfins hunt ghost shrimp, its amazing their teamwork. I agree snails.

Why not omit the gourami and get the shrimp?

I'm looking for a show case fish that would add color. My original plan was 12 blood fins, some ghost shrimp and 3 ottos. After more research I decided against the ottos because of how fragile they are. Now I'm thinking the 12 blood fin a few snails and a dwarf gourami would look nice.
