Default Mold problems from multiple tanks in house?

    0 Not allowed!
Has anyone every had mold problems in their house from having multiple tanks? I have noticed some mold growing around the windows, attic entrance, and things of that nature. Do I have seal problems in the windows? Or is the excess moisture in the air from the tanks causing the mold? If I were to be FORCED to downsize it would be most unpleasant. Most unpleasant indeed. Has anyone had this problem before or have any expertise to lend? Thanks in advance.

I have no idea whether you have a seal problem or not with your windows because I am not looking at them, but I can tell you I have over 200 gallons in tanks in a small living room and have never had mold issues.
When I go fishing I just throw sharp rocks in the water and wait for the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you are stupid and make bad decisions.

I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.

In winter, most people have too dry air but if mold is an issue and it is not due to roof leaks, than a de-humidifier might be in order.
    Knowledge is fun(damental)

A 75 gal with eight Discus, fake plants, and a lot of wood also with sand substrate. Clean up crew is down to just two Sterba's Corys. Filters: continuous new water flow; canister w/UV, in-tank algae scrubber!! Finally, junked the nitrate removal unit from hell.

Exactly and I know of plenty of people on here that have maybe 5 times the gallon-age I have and have never heard anyone complain about mold issues. I have right at 255 gallons of water.

We have ordered a dehumidifier but it has only been running for like 2 weeks. So I cant judge whether or not it has worked.

Be careful with mould growth. Black mould has nasty spores that are very hazardous to your health. I live in a flat with a condensation problem (it had it before we moved in with tanks...and I don't think they contribute much to it as I get near-zero evaporation).

We have a de-humidifier on the go constantly to try to deal with the damp air.

Use a bleach-based cleaner to wipe mould off around the windows/walls. Don't let it grow - it's very bad for your lungs. Keep rooms well ventiliated and WARM in winter and it should keep it under control.

Yes I have been keeping it wiped down as much as possible, and also noticed the mold around the windows before I got all of my tanks but it just wasn't as prevalent. Guess all I can do for now is fight and see what happens and go from there. Thanks for your input guys! Very helpful. Glad to know it might not be my beloved tanks:p

Do you have condensation lids on all your tanks? I do (and lose nothing to evaporation).

Yeah, always. And I do lose to evaporation. How do you avoid losing water to evaporation..? Even with bi-weekly WC's my water evaporates at least a little.

How much evaporation are you getting from your tanks each week?

Glass tops can help with that as well. I loose very very little water on my 90 gallon with glass tops.

Your moisture / mold problem may not be cuased by your tanks
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
