Aponogeton madagascariensis. Not only did it become
The most spectacular plant in my tank, it also gave me my forum name.

Oooo, I just Googled this. Beautiful. My LFS has these in their planted display tanks. I've heard they are quite demanding plants to grow?

Aponogeton madagascariensis has always mystified me. It strikes me as one of those plants that some people have no trouble with, while others can't get to grow at all. Some sources say it doesn't tolerate high light and should be shaded; other sources say it requires high light and is very demanding.

Hmm. So if I could only have one TYPE of plant in a planted tank, I would say swords. I love the leaf shape, and there is a large variety of sizes and colors; they are also robust growers. But if I could only have one SPECIES, I think I would choose Pogostemon erectus. I have a patch of it in my 20G and it has formed quite a forest.
