OPen the bag, remove some of the biomax, then close the bag again.
Using the bag will make things a lot eaier for you when you need to clean your filterIf you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

The bag that fluval bio max comes in is not meant to be placed in your filter, just add how much of the media you need and store the rest. Don't forget to rinse it before placing it inside your filter. It's been a while I can't remember if the bags have holes in them or not but If you want to keep the media organised you can put it in a filter bag.

I do believe the bag he is talking about is a media bag, just as in the below picture. If that is the "bag" we are talking about, it is meant to be placed in the filter just like that. Water can freely flow through it allowing the bacteria to grow. This makes it easy to remove the small little pcs of the biomax for the occasional rinsing and prevents you from have a big mess inside your filter when those little things get everywhere.
