Lighting - Aqua Glo
I got a 20 gallon long tank the other day and I am working on cleaning it up and getting it ready for fish.
The tank is 30" long and came with a hood and light fixture. The light holds a 24" fluorescent bulb, and it came with a "GLO Aqua-Glo" Light bulb.
Its a 20 Watt T8 bulb that puts out 18,000K color temp.
In my 55 I use T5 bulbs, one 6700K and one colormax (dont know K temp).
What is the general opinion of folks here about the Aqua-glo bulb, and what would you recommend?

A 18,000K bulb is a bulb best suited for a marine set-up. That would give a lot (and I mean a lot) of algae in your FW tank
I would switch to something like you are currently using on your 55 gallon. A bulb in the 6500 to 6700K rangeIf you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

Thanks for the info.
Yeah when i picked the tank up, (it was used), the amount of green hair algae was astounding.

LOL, I know, I tried a 18,000K bulb once as well. The amount of algae that I got was just amazing and it took me weeks to get rid of it all
I have found the below link to be very helpful when it comes to understanding lighting. I have learned a lot form it
