The floramax says it has free water clarifier in it. But I can't find it. I didn't see anything in the stuff I washed and put in the tank... and I just went thru the rest of the bag... nothing... What am I looking for? A small pouch of something? It wouldn't already be mixed in would it?

A small bag, the size of a ketchup packet from a fast food place. Might have gotten buried when you emptied it in the tank.

Well I have no idea where it went but it's not in the tank. That was my biggest concern...
Refilled the tank slowly and with a small plate sitting on the gravel so I don't have a cloudy tank now.

Picked up some driftwood today!

Couldn't find any sponge filters at any lfs's or any big stores... so I'm gonna order the one from kensfish...

They can be hard to find in local stores. Best bet would be a non chain fish store, or of course online. Can sometimes get a deal on aquabid.com . Ebay is probably cheapest but delivery times can suck.

One lfs had some bigger ones in their goldfish tanks, but not for sale... It's all HOB's and canisters...

Filter's on it's way... Driftwood is soaking in a bucket because it's releasing tannins like crazy, makes the water look like a very strong cup of tea... not really the look I'm going for, even though it is kind of interesting. Gives the tank a mysterious look, like you don't know what's gonna come swimming out of the shadows... A 99% water change took care of that...

If you fit it in a pot and boil it for a few hours it'll speed up the process of tannin release.

Don't have a big enough pot... the bucket with hot water and changing the water twice a day seems to be working well enough...
Filter should be here today so I can start seeding it in my other tank!
