Thread: Big Pacu HELP!

  1. Default Big Pacu HELP!

I just picked up four very very very large Pacu fish the biggest 1 is about 22 inches in length from tip to tip, the others are roughly between 12 and 15 inches long, I got them because the gentleman that have them before was getting rid of them for free and I have 150 gallon tank and I figured they would fit but there a little bit too big,
if I can come across a really bigfish tank I might keep them but right now I don't think they're too happy, is anyone interested in some very large fish? or what can I do with them or who can I call to maybe donate them

    Here's a couple suggestions:

Call your local fish stores to see who might take them as an adoptable.

Post an ad in craigslist or similar

Find out if your local fish club has anyone interested or will be having an auction at their next meeting?

People post things in the wrong places rather frequently. Since a mod can move a whole thread there is no reason not to answer the question.

    No need to fret

This thread has now been moved to the correct section of the forum

I hope you find a new home for those fish. Trillianne's advice is spot on and should help you
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

    2nd what Trillianne said.

also, if you have a local zoo or a college near you-they may have some aquarium set up to handle big fish like this.

cant hurt to look into those options as well.

Mizz might have hit on the only solution. Most people won't take a pacu simply because of the size they get. It would almost have to be a pick-up only because they're too large to ship and it would probably kill them. Looks like you inherited the other guys problem.

I was going to suggest approaching a zoo or marine park, as the above suggests. I imagine that they get approached with these requests a lot though and I can't imagine they just take them all.

Out of sheer interest, any chance of a photo of your inherited problem?

I do hope you manage to find a solution for them.

Only other options are an indoor pond or find a good pacu recipe.

The fish club is a good idea. The guys and girls at my fish club are insane. They have a tank or will know some who knows someone that has a tank for them lol.
