a mate has a "farlowella cat" for sale at the pet shop and was wondering about them. how big do they get? are they suitable for a 3 ft community tank? do they need to live in groups? stuff like that.... thanks heaps in advance

How many gallons is a 3ft tank? It doesn't tellus much, could be a breeder,long, stand whatever.

They are a hard to keep species, not recomended for beginners.

i have some livebearers, danios, a small school of tetras, 5 baby bristlenose, and two small angels in there. the tank is 3 ft by 2 ft high and a ft wide. it has a 700 l/h internal powerhead filter in there aswell.

thanks for the link cracka, they are very interesting looking arent they? im still only half convinced i want to get it. i dont want to buy it then kill the poor guy. i do 25- 30% water changes once a week and rinse out the filter bout once a month. it depends on the price of him/her though.

lol, they are impossible to find in planted tanks. mine ate algae wafers mostly, and he took a week to find out what they are

the tank isnt terribly planted, its got 4 good size anubias plants, and a bunch of hornwort. i have a few pieces of driftwood in there and a couple of caves at the back. i want to go down and see how big it is and the price but cant get into town till thurs.
