A centerpiece fish, to my community tank. I've heard different opinions about whether or dwarf cichlids can be kept in the community tank. Right now I have about 15 zebra danio, 5 guppies (which I don't really care to much about), ghost shrimp ( some adults some not, if only adults can live that would be fine), 1 bamboo shrimp, 40+ MTS snails, 6 assassin snails, and my pleco, that if someone could identify I would be vary appreciative (bought at petsmart as Highfin Leopard Pleco).

I'm looking to rehome the pleco, she is getting huge, and uprooting my plants, as you can see. Any info or advice would be great, thanks!

If you have plants, you could get a trio of appistos, a pair of kribs, or a group of 4-6 bolivian rams or a dwarf gourami. Do you know your ph, as all the species mentioned before and the ang? You could also get an angelfish, but if you get him, get him small so he doesn't eat the danios.Do you know your ph, as all the species mentioned before need a ph of less than 7.5.?

Ah nice. How about German Blue Rams? Very popular on here and a bit more colourful that Bolivians.

Its a 55 gallon tall tank. Ph is 8.2 . The gh and kh over was over 200. Nitrites 0.2 ppm. Nitrates 20-40 ppm. Ammonia 0.2 ppm.

Ouch! If you have ammonia and nitrites in the tank DO NOT add a thing - your tank isn't cycled properly or it's under-filtered. Do you know why you have ammo/trites?

That pH is extremely high and not suitable for any dwarf cichlids, I withdraw my previous recommendation (sorry).

    2nd the cycle thing.

    lets start over:

did you cycle the tank? if so how?

and after you figure out the pH issue, the main reason I wont recommend anything is because your tank is established enough for dwarf cichlids.

generally speaking they are sensitive fish-some more than others, and any amounts of ammonia/nitrite is not good, but even more so w/ these fish. they aren't hardy to handle the cycle.

    Why is that?
Your shrimp would most likely be killed with a cichlid in the tank to.
