Noob protein skimmer question
do you buy the skimmer to match the sump size or the size of the water volume(tank&sump) total?
My idea is this, to buy the AquaC urchin In-sump Protein skimmer, does anyone have experience with this product.
My sump will ten with twenty nine gallon tank

I would suggest getting a skimmer that is rated from at least little more than your total water volumn (sump + tank). Bigger is always better
I have only used the Aqua C Ramora (HOB version) and I have found that model to be a very good quality skimmerIf you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

Thank you cliff and I remembered that about your protein skimmer recommendation from an earlier reply which is why I looked into Aqua c ramora.

Depending on your budget and what you can find locally, a vertex IN80 or IN100 would also work well for you. The vertex skimmers that I have seam to work well

I have had a few different skimmers over the years.
125g corallife skimmer -started leaking
some random brand one that doesn not work well
octopus - been running great for two years
aqua c - one I had my friend buy... It works. Friend don't think it works great but I think he does not have a big enough bio load to skim like I skim.
