Head and Tail Light
People are always asking for a good beginer Tetra and this one gets overlooked.
Hemigrammus Ocellifer, the head and tail light tetra has a lot going for it. Hardy, colorful, always availble and peaceful. Their shape makes them able to be kept with larger fish, they get to 2".
They will eat anything, stay in the upper part of the tank, can thrive in hard water and higher pH and not harras their tankmates.Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.

Thanks for this post. I have not seen these before. They are beautiful! I've added them to my want list for my future tank.

They are usualy pretty easy to find. Most LFS keep them as a staple.

I couldn't agree more. I've had them for a couple of months now and they get a wonderful green coloring once they are established.Their stocky body shape also allows them to be with angelfish so you don't need to worry about them being eaten lol

I've got eight of these in one of my tanks. Since the tank lighting isn't that bright. They look really good. It brings out the yellow and red. They seem to grow slowly, or at least mine did.
These are definitely worth getting, they are inexpensive, hardy, and are colorful once established as the OP said.
