  1. Default Eric's Nano Shrimp Journey

So while I wait for my 55g cycle to complete, I thought I would begin another journey into the world of fw shrimp. I've had this tank cycled for about 6 months and been using it for QT but it got a small snail infestation. After ridding it of as many snails as I could find, removed the gravel substrate and replaced with blank sand. Did a 75% wc, put some dw and Java moss from another tank, dosed a tiny little bit of ammonia and will wait to see if the cycle holds.

If it does, will probably put some low light plants in and go from there. I'm using a stick on LED from exo terra made for vivs but I think it should be enough for the time being. Need to cut a new glass top in the next few days but other than that, not much else. Might switch out the Top Fin filter for an AC 10 down the road.

    Cool!

AC20 is the smallest they make, if I'm not mistaken...what size is this tank?

Added some ferns from the 20g. I might have too much substrate in here but I will be putting some rooted plants too so we'll see.

Looks great. If you are just putting shrimp in, Azoo makes a palm filter for a 5 gallon tank, it is a very small HOB that many use in betta tanks because its good filter with an adjustable flow and is customizable. I bought the small AC media bags and stuffed them with BB media and a small blue bonded sponge. Have two of them on my 5.5 gallon tanks. Got them at

Thanks for that! Would one be sufficient for shrimp only? The top Fin I have has a sponge attached to floss/carbon bags and I could probably just fit a small bag of bio balls instead of the carbon but I like the adjustable flow rate.

Shrimp have such a small bioload that the Azoo would definately cover it.

Sorry, I see now the palm filter you linked. I checked amazon and they have a version for a 3.5 g so I might just do that one. Thanks again!
