Best tank temperature
You probably had that one many time but here is my case.
Up until yesterday jippy had a preset tetra heater to 78 F, the thermometer always show anywhere between 74 & 76 (wasn't very accurate, one of those glass stickers).
Yesterday I pick up a new one and well a new heater too of course.
So for slow acclimation I got the temp between 78 and 80 F, trying to achieve the perfect temp 80-82 F, i turn it up a notch to get in the morning 82-84 F
So what is best 78-80 F or 82-84 F?
Or I am just being anal ?
On a side note the new thermometer showed 78 F before I added the new heater.

It depends on your fish.
It is recommended to be as close to 78F for tropical freshwater and saltwater. There is no need to increase the water temperature in the mornings like you are doing.Check out my Youtube Channel!

Thank you for your quick answers as usual.
I agree that close to 76-78 F is the regular tropical fish temp but I got the idea that 80-82 is better for Betta when alone.
So I should turn it down a notch to go back to 78-80 F is preferable?
to Allenisabel: I am not changing to temp back and forth just trying to set up the temp of the new heater at the correct degree, after it is done I will not touch it.

82 is ideal for Betta fish.
Adjust it until the thermometer reads 82.
In my experience the temp. Indicator on the side just gets you close.

Jippy will do fine with a temp of around 80. Some say a bit higher, some say a bit lower, but that's the average of what I've read. Anything lower than 78 or so increases your chances of the fish getting sick...they like it warm.
My bettas are at 80 - 81, and are happy as clams.

I keep mine 78-80, but mines not alone. Ive found in the past summers my bettas seem to get stressed when the temps raised much more than 80.
They get really stressed when it hits 86 during a heat wave...
