To bad you arent close! I would home them in a heart beat. EBJD's are great community fish for the larger cichlids but you need to get one with at least 3in on him or have a grow out plan because they grow slower than say a Sevrum or Midas.

ill ship them to you! Jk haha . I'm just worried the JD might try eating the rainbows or bolivian rams.

From what I've seen of JDs, they should be fine.

If you get the JD small you should be fine, its not big on eating bolivians. They are pretty good fish.

So I decided against the JD, I'm thinking about 1 or 2 schools of different tetras, ones that aren't too small so they won't get sucked into the fx5 intake and not to big that they will leave a big bioload, ones that would breed in my water condition would be ideal.

I just got 4 SAEs in my 75gal community tank. If you do get them, make sure you get a small school of 4-5. They're true schoolers and you'll definitely enjoy their behavior. Also, only had mine for 3 days and they've made a significant dent in algae on two pieces of driftwood. Great workers (and they look nice, too). =]

As for Tetras, you should check out Columbian, Buenos Aires and Congo Tetras - they're all beautiful. Long Fin Serpae Tetras are very nice, too, but they don't school very well... more of a shoal.

    Thanks for your input man,

I was looking at around 6 of the SAEs but they are really hard to source locally, many suppliers don't carry them due to the more aggressive false siamese algae eater being prevalent.

I like the Buenos Aires tetras but I see that they eat most plants so that's out of the question, I like the congos hopefully I can find biggish specimins that would adapt to my water.

No problem. 6 SAEs would be great. =] You're right, they're typically rare in LFS. I bought mine online from gunpowderfish.com. Excellent stock, they breed them their selves and they take great care in packaging their livestock. If you're going to go that route, I highly recommend them.

Edit: I just realized that would probably be more expensive for you, since you're not in the states. Hopefully you can find something local to you. =/

I totally agree with this I have a 3 inch EBJD currently housed with my colombian and serpae tetras while I get a little more growth on him before returning him to the 90 cichlid tank. He's a sweetheart. As Sandz says - very slow grower - and not to be confused with a JD which will get larger and be more aggressive. I won't feel safe until I get him up to 4 inches as they tend to develop intestinal issues right around that point.
