  1. Default is there a dwarf cichlid for this tank?

I'm probably the only fishkeeper in the world who's never kept any cichlid. Well.. so it seems sometimes.

As a spin-off of this thread... is there a dwarf cichlid that can live happily in a 33 gallon, 32 inches wide which will also feature a few schools of calm fish and which has shrimp as well (and I don't want those wiped out)

I have been looking at rams but I'm not entirely convinced yet.

  2. Default

    great looking tank.

I think a pair of german blue's would POP in that tank. they have probably the strongest bright colors on their body of the dwarfs.

    or

Cockatoo cichlids, they have great color but more so on their fins.

    or

    Kribs
Hardy fellas, and have strong color too.

I think adding any dwarf cichlid would put your shrimp at risk.

    Thanks Mizzou!

Never kribs, they breed like rabbits and you almost have to pay people to take them from you.

@kingfisher: Yeah... been reading up on feeding habits and that was my suspicion too.

I am personally a huge fan of apistos, I have been looking at a duo or trio for my 55 gal community and have been asking for advice also.

But I don't know how the apisto would fare with shrimp, might just be its food supply.

I can't think of a single exception to this rule.
When in doubt, do a water change.
