  1. Question Which Turface to use

Ok I have found that around me there are a few different options for this

One store carries Turface MVP and Turface Pro League Heritage Red

The John Deere store carries Turface All Sport and Turface Game Saver

The MVP and Heritage Red I can look up on the website, I like the red more

    http://www.turface.com/turface-produ...ace-pro-league

However I have never heard of all sport or game saver... has anyone used these? Just wondering if they are all aquarium safe and what color the all sport and game saver is

Issue I'm seeing with that is people are just labeling it "Turface" and not specifying which is which lol.

I read a few that say MVP is the same as All Sport (However the JD distributor has the all sport for $9/bag vs $19 for MVP at another place) so I feel like there is a difference

Found a distributor that would actually talk to me for a few mins (they don't like just a 1 bag sale of this stuff apparently lol)

Game Saver - More like a fine dust
MVP and All Sport - Almost Identical
Pro League - The top coat for baseball fields (mixed grain size, different colors avail)

So Pro League seems the choice to go with

Wouldn't washed mason's sand be a safer and cheaper alternative? Or maybe pool filter sand?

At least you know those two alternatives are safe.

    Ehhh...just throwing my in.
When in doubt, do a water change.

    "This ain't rocket science!"

    Response from turface

You ask a very common question. John Deere Landscape has a private label of our Turface products just under the name they use. Below is an equivalency for you.

Quick Dry = Game Saver - This is the finest/smallest particle size (nearly dust) and is used mostly as a drying agent.

MVP = All Sport - This is the most common product with a the largest variety of particle sizes. the largest being about 1/16 of an inch and smallest being just larger then Quick Dry particles.

ProLeague = All Sport Pro - This is the most consistent particle sizes Basically the middle of the spectrum you find in MVP, very few of the largest and smallest particles you see in MVP with 95% being in the middle.

Other variations of ProLeague only provide color options, all the particle sizing is the same.

Most aquarium builders use ProLeage because they like the particle size. Typically they will soak the product in water in a bucket over night to let any fine dust particles separate before they load into the tank.

IMO If you are going to use it, I would wash it just like you would any other sand.

I've seen that some people clean it while others dont

Well, if you want your water column to be fouled up for a while then don't wash it.
