here is the description i wrote for the video directly from youtube >>
"this poor lil guy is a savanna hawk , he is still a chick and for some reason was orphaned , someone brought him to me after they decided they could not care for him properly , he was severely dehydrated ,underweight and generally not happy, it's been a week since i've had him he's feeding on chicken meat, fish and the odd insect here and there , his wing muscles have severely atrophied , and i hope to work with him over the holidays to build up his condition with the hopes of RELEASING him next year , "

Poor little guy. I hope he does well. Also have to wonder what happened to the parents.

The probability of being watched is directly proportional to the stupidity of the act

i hope so too , the circumstances surrounding him are fishy to say the least the guy who gave it too me said some hunters found him , but i think he prob thought he could keep it as a pet but had no idea how to care for it properly had i gotten it a few hours later it would have been dead .I'm doing my best with him , as i am currently studying veterinary sciences it'll be a good experience for me although i still got a proper vet to check him out just in case .

Do you have a permit to keep such birds of prey? I hope it can be returned to the wild next year.

this species is not protected but i have to renew the permits for my macaws this month and i will apply for one for him if it is required ,however if he cannot be returned to the wild i will build him a nice big enclosure i hope it does not come to that , so far he looks like he could make it on his own soon
