I have some questions Do savannh hawks get as big as red tails. Whats the animals story, how did you find it? Is it going to be released into the wild.

Poor little guy. I hope he does well. Also have to wonder what happened to the parents.

i hope so too , the circumstances surrounding him are fishy to say the least the guy who gave it too me said some hunters found him , but i think he prob thought he could keep it as a pet but had no idea how to care for it properly had i gotten it a few hours later it would have been dead .I'm doing my best with him , as i am currently studying veterinary sciences it'll be a good experience for me although i still got a proper vet to check him out just in case .

Do you have a permit to keep such birds of prey? I hope it can be returned to the wild next year.

this species is not protected but i have to renew the permits for my macaws this month and i will apply for one for him if it is required ,however if he cannot be returned to the wild i will build him a nice big enclosure i hope it does not come to that , so far he looks like he could make it on his own soon
