there are many varieties of geophagus. They are primarily a very peaceful cichlid ... but do use google and look up the profiles of the specific geo(s) you're thinking of stocking for info on their temperament and what fish will be compatible with them. You don't want to put them in a tank with bullies.
I have 2 geos - a jurupari and one I've not yet id'd in my 90 together and they basically just ignore all the other fish and each other. You can keep them singly. A mating pair might show some aggression.

Surinamensis and abalios are relatively peaceful, but should ideally be kept in groups of 5 or so. There tends to be more aggression in smaller groups. With species like steindachneri, it is best to keep one male with a group of females.

Geophagus brasiliensis can be aggressive to other cichlids. I've read quite a few that went toe to toe against an Oscar.

most geos are peaceful as far as cichlids go. most like sandy bottoms so they can do their 'sifting'. lower ph acidic water, and tannins also are preferred.

Supper - you can very easily find what you are searching for on google. First by finding all the names of the species and one by one entering their names in google images... the research needs to be done by you.

you might want to look at the jurupari. gorgeous, gorgeous fish. I've not seen even a trace of aggression from mine. there's a photo of him on my 90 gal journal thread close to the last page.
