And it would be easy enough to get these adjust to, say 24C (sorry, I never could get my head around fahrenheit). which would work for the otos and the snail.

i have put in a request on their supplimental list even though i am no where near ready at jacks pets for endler's livebearers or ember tetras

They will hold them if they get any in. i don't think my tank will be ready for another two or three weeks though.

a stocking of ten ember tetras reads as below
10 ember tetra
4 oto cats
1 assassin snail
required temperture no more than 78F
plenty of filtration
stocking level 81%

I think this would work best out of everything so far

I would go with the embers. Like you said they are colorfull and for their size are very outgoing. They have quickly become one of my favorite fish.

perfect and it will be easier to get them as they won't fight within genders if a femme fetale is around.

also as predicted my assassin snail has gone 'missing' in the tank...i'm sure he or she is buried somewhere.

Edit: Just contacted Jack's Aquarium, the most reliable of the four LFS i have. I told them to cancel the supplementary list for the Endler's livebearers and keep the supplimentary list request for the Ember Tetras. This should make it easier because i'm going to have to get fake middle size plants as my ten gallon's light would be too strong for any, and my tank too small to support the max size of any midrange plant.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what kind of fake plants i should look for as i'm going with the ember tetras? They'll already have clumps of crypto to hide in and i have a rock formation for the oto cats and assassin snail to hide under already in the tank.

Please advise. Also i didn't use the safe start solution when starting this tank as i was doing a fishless cycle. I think i read that you should only use prime and use stability for the first seven days. Any of the safe start solutions might kill the bacteria you're wanting to grow. (at least i read something LOL)

Thoughts? Comments?

10 gallon.. you got more than 20 watts on there?

I'm willing to bet that with a few root tabs and the occasional drop of liquid co2 you could grow a lovely mat of Echinodorus tenellus.

it's a led light setup that comes with the marineland ten gallon kit. I know it was strong enough to start turning my anubias plants leaves to brown spots, they were not the official brown color yet but i could tell they would eventually be. LED has day and night settings. Don't know on the wattage. I suppliment my plants with the Normal Seachem's Flourish once or twice a week.

The crypto i have is crytpocoryne wendii and it grows pretty good in the tank without root tabs and using flourish.

I doubt if your tank is high light. If I look at the website it lists:

And that is distinctly low light. So.. there's something else wrong there.

Not sure how mountain minnows will take to the temp the others have. They are generally known for cold water tanks. You should also be careful with trying to stock too many species of fish into one small tank. My 10 gallon has a few plants in it and I can't look at it and see where fish could possibly swim in there. I have nothing but shrimp in mine.

I think I would stock perhaps a few "small tetra" and a few shrimp and call the tank done, honestly. Glowlight tetra's might work or perhaps some micro-rasbora

Danio's are small so people often think they are great for small tanks but they are not due to their activity level.

AqAdvisor is only a guide. OK to play with but I wouldn't base any decisions on it.
