Make sure you provide hiding spots. Wood & hollow logs are preferred. Feed fresh raw veges with zuccini & cucumber being favorites. Easily breedable & sexable sp. & very rewarding. Congrats on your decision. No doubt you will be pleased.
    I didn\'t lose my mind.
It was mine to give away...

I forgot to add - Bristlenose are plecos. They are Ancistrus sp.

Ooh, what a beautiful pleco. They call it a starlight bristlenose pleco.

(I got the photo from timstropicals.com)

they say it reaches 5 inches, but difficult to breed.

oops. I forgot to add the scientific name. Ancistrus dolichopterus

There are a lot of bristlenosed plecos. It normally revers to Ancistrus dolichopterus but is sometimes used for just about any Ancistrus species. the picture above is not a common Ancistrus dolichopterus (atleast no type i ever seen) an dis likely another Ancistrus species all together since Ancistrus dolichopterus is very easy to breed.

Tip for giving the zuccini, boil it first then it will sink

  9. Default

I have 2 albino bristlenose (well, actually, 1 is hubby's) and love em both. If it wasn't for the rescue plec I have in my 64 gal I would have another one! I have heard that bristlenose can be territorial on their bottom dwelling space so make sure you have room for everyone to "own" and I imagine you could have quite a crew! Try to get pics for us please.
