ideas for a 9 gallon tall tank
recently upgraded to a 29 gallon so the small tank is collecting dust.
I used it briefly as a quarantine tank but no longer getting new fish.
besides a betta tank, any ideas?
something new and interesting, doesn't have to be a fish.

What about shrimp ?
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

If I had an odd shaped tank like that, I think I'd try seahorses...
Alternatively, you could turn it into a terrarium, sans reptiles...

seahorses in a tall 9g? I'd say that takes a skilled aquarist to make it work.
Yeah, shrimp's always an option. Possibly a pair of those african frogs.

Maybe a few cardinals or neons or even some micro-rasbora and shrimp?

Cardinals? Really Lady? If I read 9g tall I'm assuming something a foot wide or less even and in my opinion that's very little swimming room for cardinals.
Micro rasbora and shrimp is of course a fine option
