So can someone explain Rose's behavior
Soooo I put one algae tablet into the tank intending it to be for the four oto cats i now have.
Welllll Mr Rose, my double tailed betta decides to dive after the tablet and has proceeded to eat half of it all by himself...
Can we say someone is not getting fed for a good portion of this week?
Also is this natural? Rose is the betta who always chased after the shrimp pellets my julii cory cats used to eat. (used to eat because i gave them up to rehome today out of tank conscientiousness)6 gal column- 1 powder blue dwarf gourami, 1 bronze cory, and one nerite snail, planted.
10 gal - 2 F celebus rainbows, 3 ghost shrimp, 1 nerite snail, 1 mystery snail, planted
10 gal #2 - 6 flame tetras, 1 ornate tetra, 1 nerite snail, and 1 emperor tetra planted

Betta's are kind of like dogs, they see, they want, they eat it. hehehe
My Betta is always hungry. He's fed plenty every day but it never seems to be enough for him.
Betta just being a Betta. Be happy and enjoy.Warning; Bulldog Pleco guarding my Sons tank now..
Please remember; every keystroke has a consequence.

in rose's case it's bad for him. as a double tailed betta he gets 'constipated' easily. so i plan to see the bloat this week from him.

"algae" tablets do contain a significant amount of fish meal in them making them interesting to carnivorous fish too. If I were you I would give the otos a slice of cucumber or zucchini instead. I really doubt that any betta would try eating that...

if i put zuchini or cucumber slices into the tank, for a school of six, how often would i do this, and how long should it stay in the tank before it would need to be replaced.
Also I believe that the otos would also eat on the crypto plants that are currently melting as you saw stated in the other thread i started.
Thoughts?6 gal column- 1 powder blue dwarf gourami, 1 bronze cory, and one nerite snail, planted.

Every other day, 24 hours.
IF your crypts are in trouble and melting then yes, the ottos will also take a taste.

I will be getting two more ottos today to complete the school in rose's tank from the same place as i got the other four. I called last night and they are already on hold for me.
This would be much better for the tank than the khuli loaches. Am also considering using a school of otto cats in the tank with the harlequin rasboras once the tank is ready for stocking. What do you think.6 gal column- 1 powder blue dwarf gourami, 1 bronze cory, and one nerite snail, planted.

I already know. My tail type for my betta is double tailed.
He's already constipated after eating half that algae tablet yesterday.
Double Tailed betta's are more prone to this issue. Someone's not getting any food this week i can tell you that when i saw he was nomming on the pellet.6 gal column- 1 powder blue dwarf gourami, 1 bronze cory, and one nerite snail, planted.

I just put one half inch slice of cucumber in for my five otos. Sometimes they don't touch it for half a day or so, so I leave it in there for two days in that case. They will pretty much finish it off in that time.
My otos are also verging on obese - if this is possible. Super fat happy bellies. I tried putting two slices in there, but they didn't eat one at all.
Also, you'll have to weight the slice down somehow so they can get to it.
