Silver Dollars and plants
I am going to set up a tank fairly soon and there are lots of fish I am considering. One of my top choices are silver dollars. However, I would like to have a planted aquarium and I hear silver dollars will eat almost every real plant in your aquarium. That's a bummer, since I really like them.
Can anyone tell me something about that? Will they really eat all plants? would it be best to put them in a separate aquarium with fake plants?

They will eat plants indiscriminately. You may have luck with species like anubias and java ferns, as well as supplementing their diet with fresh vegetables.

what about floating plants? I was reading an article on breeding silver dollars and it stated that frogbit is a good plant for them to spawn in... I didn't understand how that would work without the fish eating it all.300 gallon mega tank: sailfin pleco, clown loaches, silver dollars, roseline sharks, congo tetras, new world cichlids
