Identification of livingstonii cichlid
Hello, my name is Ben and i have been lurking on this site for a while. this is my first post so please be patient. Can anyone help me positive identify this fish? It was sold to me as haplochromis livingstonii but google image searches do not show juveniles to have such yellow/golden color. It also appears that there are several sp. Of livingstonii cichlids. I am new to haps and would love any thoughts opinions as to identification of this lively fish. The image is blurry but this is an active little guy and my cell phone doesn't like moving targets. Thanks!

I threw the name into google and the very first image looks identical to yours: http://www.cydoniamall.com/pets//pic...ivingstoni.jpg
So I think you can safely say it was marked right in the store.

That fish is a venustus Hap. Livingstoni are brown not yellow. Both get around the same size and are cool fish. Hope you have a big tank as they can reach 10 inches.110g All Male Peacock/Hap Tank

Are these the fish who 'sleep' on their sides, waiting for prey? And yes he seems very cool so far, and yes I have him in a 75 gallon tank. He will be moved to a larger tank further down the road but for now, plenty of space. do you have any of these, or have you had any, bigblak? any tips?

They are not the fish you describe they are african cichlids. I have 2 of them and a livingstoni in my peacock hap tank. What do you have in the tank with him at the moment ?110g All Male Peacock/Hap Tank
