Which they almost never do. Usually they're in ambush way up in the tank. I saw this formation and immediately ran to my camera.

If you don't mind my asking, how much does the Hikari set you back, and where can I order some?

I've noticed that people HATE it when you point out how stupid they are, so now I try to do it politely.

Hikari food? Usually around 2.50 euros for a small baggie. My store would be useless to you but in your country amazon has it

Petsmart has it, too. Not a wide variety, but they definitely do have the algae wafers. From what I've seen there, they run from $3-8 for a small to medium sized bag.

At the exchange rate and factoring in your much lower sales tax, that sounds about right.

Thanks TD and Kev. I didn't know Pet smart had them, BUT I don't have one of those around here. I did find them on Drs Foster and Smith. $5.00 for a small bag. Not bad really.

Maintenance and water change day today. Noticed my vallis was ailing so I tested my water. It's now where I want it and will do my best to keep it. Ph 6.5, GH 4. Unfortunately that's really too soft for vallis to thrive. I'm thinking of replacing it with cyperus helferi.
After dinner I noticed my big shrimp looking like he was about to moult so I got out the camera which spooked him. I did manage to catch one of the small shrimps in a nice spot. Apologies for the focus error on the first shot.
