I've always had the same question about the frozen cubes. I defrost mine in water first, but wondering how it would be if I just dropped them in frozen.

Go try it, and let us know.

TD, you feed your bloodworms frozen, not thawed in tank water first?
I've found that when I thaw them first the load just drops on the bottom. The hatchets miss out, the barbs don't get too much and the neons, cories and the bristlenose get it all.
I do thaw cyclops and mix 'm in the new water after a water change. Put a small bucket on top of the tank and just let it syphon in, that's great fun for almost the whole tank.
Still no sign of the missing cichlid, I am beginning to fear the worst and what bothers me immensely is that I suspect I did something wrong but I don't know what.

I don't want them to get a "brain freeze" like you do if you eat ice cream too fast. Not that I eat ice cream....

excuse the horrible quality, going to need to borrow a decent video camera sometime soon. But this is what's happening when I feed stringbeans.

Gave the tank a good clean today. Lifting some rocks to get rid of the mulm. Did a lot of pruning and removal of windelov fern even though the picture hardly shows it. I removed some windelov fern from the background and removed almost all bad leafs and plantlets from the big one on the tree.
Also surprised why the Echinodorus Tennelus in the front right has been growing so well the last few months. I still get algae encrusted leafs but I also see more runners than I ever had.

If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
