Top/mid level fish that will mix with these species?
Im looking for a nice top - mid level fish that would be fine either on its own or in a pair and would get on with these species:
White Cloud Mountain Minnows
Black Skirt Tetras
African Dwarf Frogs
Filter Shrimp
Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlid
I considered a Dwarf Gourami but I found they dont like loud noises and my tank is right near the TV so thats probably not a good idea... I wanted a betta too but I think the Black Skirts would nip his fins?
A lot of species I like have to be kept in larger numbers, so any recommendations would be appreciated. Btw I only have the minnows and tetras in the tank atm.

can you post actual #'s of the fish?
I dont want to recommend anything that will overstock your tank and cause you more issues down the road.

I'd bump up the numbers of your schools by at least 3. A betta could be kept with them, as they fin nip less when they have higher numbers in their school.

You've got a good bit of room for more bio load in your tank. How about a school of hatchet tetras?

do you have 1 or 2 of the cockatoo cichlids?
and bump up the schools and call it quits. Your fish aren't in appropriate #'s for schools in the first place.
10white clouds, 8 black skirts and keep the rest of the stock the same.
IME, Dwarf gourami's are not compatible with dwarf cichlids, nor are betta's a good choice with black skirts.
I would not advise adding another school, it wouldn't work in that tank to get the appropriate sized schools. you do NOT have room for another school. sorry.

Hmmm so say 6 or 7 should be ok with a betta? Reading around it seems the Cockatoo Dwarf might be ok too as they mainly stay at the bottom of the tank whilst betta's stay near the top, correct?

I was looking for a single fish or a pair, not a school :S
