    Default re-doing the betta-heater question

I feel motivated to get better heaters for my bettas, at moment i got the flat constant running heater, cheap ones., i just unplug when it gets to 80 and plug in when it gets to 75. good system if you remember. So anyway i am going with a more better heater. what would you get though for a 5 gallon

    2-10 gallon heater
    5-15 gallon heater
    10-20 gallon heater

I want it to be energy effeciant as possible. i was thinking the 5-15 so it wouldnt struggle to keep the temp up all the time to 80-82

I have a top fin mini aquarium heater with one suction cup to put it on the side of the tank. it's good for tanks 2-5 gallons in amount.

I got mine at my local petsmart, you can probably find it at a store near you.

is yours one of th flat retangle ones, i am not a fan of those, thats what i am trying to get rid off. it takes forever to get m tank to 80 with those and i never seems to cut off once it gets to 80, thus i unplug it.

yes it's in my four gallon tank and with the 'day' led lights on it's currently holding at just under 79 degrees.

It's an improvement as my tank got to 73.5 with the 'night' led lights on prior to the heater. during the 'day' lights it never got above 76.5.

i'm satisfied with it as it specifically said for tanks 2-5 gallons in length.i have it down at gravel level but not buried under the gravel and held in place by the suction cup. My single betta tank is a four gallon btw.

maybe mine has a problem then. one tank has no lights at moment, it gets sufficent daylight, my other is a glo theme, so it has the all blue glo light that is attached to a clamp about 6 inches from the tank.. I need to get me a better LED for the other.. ohwell Tetra and fluval are on sell at petsmart today.

Make sure, whatever one you get it has an adjustable thermostat control. A Betta should be kept at a -constant- 82 degrees F.
2 10 gallon tanks, 1 20 gallon tank, 1 Fluval Edge, 1 29 gallon tank, and one backyard pond.

I have been using the Hydor THEO Submersible Aquarium Heater 25W UL for about 3 months in my 2 gal betta aquarium. It is adjustable and keeps a good constant temp. I got this one because its the only one I saw for small tanks that has a thermostat. It also is submersible and has an indicator light. If you do get this one, make sure you put it on the lowest setting before you plug it in, as it starts immediately. You will also need a good thermometer as the temp indicator might not match the actual temp. I closely monotored the heater for a few hours after installation. It's around $20. They also have larger ones for bigger tanks.
