Thread: Cucumber

    Default Cucumber

Any reason to not put cucumber slices in a tank? I would think it would basically be eaten like zucchini, yes?
    8 tanks running now:
    1x 220 gallon, 2x55 gallon, 1x40 gallon long, 1x29 gallon, 1x20 gallon long, 1x5.5 gallon, 1x2 gallon
Gouramis, barbs, rasboras, plecos, corys, tetras, fancy guppies, swordtails, ottos, rainbow shark, upside-down catfish, snails, and Max and Sparkles the bettas.

I have put cucumber in my tank but when I did it was either organic or grown by me. Cucumbers can have a lot of pesticides on them and I dont want to put that in my tank. Have you ever eaten a cucumber and have it taste like chemicals?its so gross.

Im not sure if it would hurt the fish but I wouldnt take a chance...thats just my opinion.

I grow my own, good point about pesticides and other chemicals though.

I buy my Cukes and other veggies from an organic foods store, but I wash them before slicing just the same.

I put two slices in the snail/fancy guppy fry tank just now. No one is paying any attention to them at all. Guess I'll wait and see!

Snails will get them at night.

One of the gold snails just now rolled right over it and didn't even pause. I'll just keep them in there and see if they go for them at night.

Whenever I put any veggies in my tank it usually takes several hours before anyone notices.

Snails take a while to get to the veggies sometimes. Wait until the lights are out, come back in an hour and flashlight it...
