  1. Default tetra tankmates for my blue acara

So I have a 55 gallon tank I've had setup fora while.currently in my tank I have a blue acara(4"),6 skunk cory cats, and a albino bristlenose plece, and one german blue ram.the ram and acara get along great and the ram is much smaller.there's plenty of live plants and drift wood in the tank.so my question is what kind of tetras could I keep with my blue acara what are some of your favorite tetras that would be compatible in this setup.I was thinking maybe doing a small school of black skirts or bleeding hearts.but am open to some other suggestions.

Red minors or Congo tetra's pop into mind... but have you considered maybe some australian rainbows?

Yea I've seen the australian rainbowfish.but I wanted to keep it south/central american.congo tetras get pretty big and like I said not from the region I was aiming for.

I can't say about compatibility with the acara as I'm not familiar with those, but one of my favorites you can research is the rummynose tetra. I have a school with my angels. They are a bit shy but I have a smaller tank. They are one of the tightest schoolers.

Yea i have rummynose in my other tank.think I need something with a higher body might end up being lunch for my acara.im pretty sure im going to go with the bleeding hearts.I went today to check them out.

Yeah; go with the bleeding hearts they are much more atractive than blackskirts IMO. Heres a video that shows them off.

Diamond tetras and Columbian would be good choices also.

I would suggest some of the larger and faster tetras like congo tetras as already mentioned. I have successfully kept congos with blue acaras in the past and it made for a really nice set-up
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

+ to this. Congos are amazing and would do well in a 55 with your acara. colombians are also very showy pretty fish but not as energetic as the congos.
