Parachromis Hybridization

Hi everyone.

New to this forum and asking around about what the chances of the 5 Parachromis species hybridizing.
I am not a fan of hybrids but would love to keep a group of these fish. Before anyone asks I don't really want to keep all one gender. I was hoping to have a large male Dovii and a female with the other 4 species as females together. Do you think the male would choose one of the other species over the female Dovii? Another option would be to put a few of each species (males and females) in an indoor pond (2,000 gallons) and keep them that way. All advice welcome.

Hybridization easily happens among parachromis, and there's always a chance the male may not chose a dovii female, especially if the female is not yet ready to mate, and there is another parachromis female who is.

You best bet it to make sure that each female has a male counterpart. Turd Ferguson on monsterfishkeepers.com did just that. Last I read, he was unable to keep a dovii pair with the other parachromis.
