Sound of a saltwater aquarium system

Hey guys! I hope you are all doing fine these days.
I am a freshwater aquarium keepers since many years,all my installation is in my bedroom.

I am never disturb by my aquariums since my room is not a small room,and as for sleeping time,my biggest external filter make a very small sound that is acceptable to sleep with.

My question is.. i always was fascinated by the saltwater aquarium but i am always afraid of this point: If i want to place the aquarium in my room,does a saltwater filtration and the other obligatory stuff system for it make more noises than a freshwater filter aquarium?

Yup, it sure does make more noise. All my FW tanks from the past were a good bit quieter than my SW setups. The main reason for the noise is the skimmer, and in my case, the return pump. If you get a small all-in-one setup like the Red Sea Max, then the noise level is much much lower.

The noise your set-up will make will be based on your set-up choices. It would be pretty hard to have a sump that will make less noise than a good quality canister filter. If you are willing to spend some extra, the extermly high quality return pumps will be your best option for the least nose if your willing for fork out the extra $$$$$

Yea they are louder but if you can spend a few dollars you can make them quiter. A drilled tank and have foam to quiet the water going in the sump. Also, never used this before but just had an idea... use sound proof material or sound deadening inside the stand. Hrm, don't know if that has ever been done.

I had 110g tall with a HOB overflow. That thing was very loud. Since then I only have drilled tanks and use the sicce syncra 5 pumps which are quiet. The only time it gets loud is when the sump needs to be filled. However, my idea of quiet and yours may differ

A lot of people will run plumbing into their basement so all the noise making equipment is downstairs. Then you would have a relatively quiet tank.
