+1 to LH I completely empty the filtration compartment and fill it with biomax, floss, and sponges. You gotta kinda play around with the order in which you place these things though because it can mess up the flow somewhat if you just cram it in there.
Finally reached 6 tanks... oh god, this addiction is getting serious. 75g mbuna tank, 65g gold severum, 55g OB peacock breeding colony, 30g(36x18) growout, 20 long Dwarf Alto's, 10g fry tank.
If I die young bury me in... An 8x2x2 with versa tops and a large sump for adequate filtration;)

No, Always put the biomax after the mech filtration. You always want to have the particulate matter [and larger stuff too] out of the water so as not to clog your biomedia. You gotta kinda play around with the order in which you place these things though because it can mess up the flow somewhat if you just cram it in there.

Yea, for now it is gonna stay as is, figured once I actually need to gut the stuff I will. The bio-max definitely helps though so far, actually job hunting, so if I get a new one, that means more budget for fish tank stuff :)

If you're going to use something like Biomax, then cut two pieces of foam and sandwich the Biomax between them.

my buddy had aqua-tech, not the greatest.. I love talking rigging filters. but all in all save for an aquaclear. not sure if you mention your tank size in the above. the same buddy has a 60 cube. he was running just the aquatech 60, I think, the one with 2 waterfalls(lol). after i schooled him, he kow has an AC70 runs in with carbon though, like it is "suppose" to go. and the Aqua-tech is full of scouring(sp?) pads, biomax and 2 old school tetra foam rectangles.
