Being a little unconfortable
Dealing with teaching my daughter how to range her room....
This morning, I walked into her room and really everything was on the floors, the closet was a mess and I literally could not walk without stepping on something.
I Picked up everything and put it in garbage bags, then this evening I will tell her she has 2 days before the bags go into the garbage.
Oh boy, I am just like my mother...
How do you deal with it?

No friends over, no going out and computer off until the room is kept in decent order. Stay consistent.

I did exactly the same garbage bag trick with my two boys. I told them, for every day that the room wasn't being tidied that something that was in the garbage bags would be tossed out, and for everyday that the rooms were being left tidy, they would get something back. And just like Hobbsy said, no fun times at all until the rooms are clean. It's amazing what you can get your kids to do when they're confined to one room, and only allowed out to use the toilet and eat their dinner!
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn. ~Chuck Clark

Yep, this is a constant battle, would be nice if we could pick and choose moments to relax and let it slide just because

I made mine clean their rooms once a week when they were little (no exceptions)...so that established the habit.
Now...the older son has a super clean/tidy room. The younger son is still in the messy teenager phase...but if I get angry enough...he'll clean. I think I make him do it once a month...

Perplexity!!
My daughter came home friday to say: "oh, can I keep them like this? "
Euh... feeling i am not getting the message across :" No..., let me show you how to range them, because next time you might not find the bags."
No, No, No and No! :-).
And yes, she is going on 6.

How times change. Non complience = a spanking when I was young. Fear worked on me and my brothers. We (wife and I) have used all the aforementioned as well as inducements with some possitive results. Results not IMO as good as when I was younger but we do what we can.
